There’s a middle ground between the beginning of an idea and its execution, where all is possible. It is a Schrodinger’s sea monster vortex of quantum art, with a plethora of elements suspended in a virtual quantum flux. Some elements are utilized in a given piece, some migrate to other pieces or are stored for further fermentation, and a few are discarded. This one has almost settled and is ready for transfer to paper or board, though there’s the possibility of a last minute adjustment by scissors and tape. The brain’s always bubbling away, you see, measuring, evaluating…

Well, here we go.
Another thing I dabble in is photography. This started as a way to build my own reference library, but eventually I started messing around with some of the pictures. I had heard about lomography, a branch of photography that embraces light leaks, distortion, cheap lenses, and unpredictable processing. It became a minor mission to try to simulate this aesthetic digitally, using homemade textures and light leak overlays, channel filters, and judicious use of the difference blending mode. Not sure how successful they are, but it was fun.
